Salami is a sausage that originally came from Italy. The name 'salami' comes from the Italian salare meaning to make something salty. The original salami was made from a mix of chopped pork and salt which was dried using air in a casing.
On Boomplaats Organic Farm we use our own free-range pasture-raised pork meat in our Salami. We only use organic certified herbs, spices and wine in our salami. The recipe for our Boomplaats salami was developed using input from all over the world, and to which we added our unique, South African 'brandy' flavour.
Salami is a charcuterie crowd-favorite and, honestly, you really can't go wrong with a gouda cheese (or any other cheese, for that matter) on your snack platter.
